This pelican was sitting on a post at the docks in Naples, Florida. I had to take his photo. He looked so confident sitting there.
I was shooting into the bright sunlight so I knew the pelican would be underexposed quite a bit. I waited until the waterway behind him was clear of boats and then took the shot.
In post-processing this image, I applied a reflector effect to light up the bird and post. Otherwise, the image is just as it came out of the camera.
It must be nice to be able to sit in the warm Florida sun all day like this pelican.
Why I do what I do: I enjoy uplifting and inspiring others by capturing and creating beautiful photos and works of art. I print them on a variety of materials.
