Lars Lentz, Outdoor Photographer
I'm an "outdoor photographer," meaning that I specialize in landscape, nature, and wildlife photography. I like very vivid images with high-contrast, and I capture these whenever I can.
I'm entirely self-taught. I started taking photos when I was about seven years old after my Uncle Hal gave me his Zeiss-Ikon Contaflex 35mm SLR film camera. I didn't really progress in photography until after 2007 when I focused on studying and actively practicing photography.
I've been all over the world and have taken photos in a lot of places. I prefer Canon, Sigma, and Olympus cameras but any camera can be good if used properly.
I'm still experimenting in improving photos using digital darkroom techniques and I'm posting on my Negative Moments blog about what I learn. I continue to travel and take photos wherever I go and I post my photos on my Lars Lentz Photography website where they are also for sale as fine-art prints.
Photography is not my full-time profession as it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to make a living from photography alone. I also work as an electrical engineer on weekdays during the day, and also do crop farming on about 200 acres of land in mid-Michigan on weekends and evenings. I have a personal blog at larslentz.com where I write about various non-photography items.
