Flying by in a seaplane at dusk, I had only a small window to capture this magnificent lighthouse on the shores of Miami, Florida. It was standing there in the setting sunlight illuminated from the side and I had to get that shot. We were flying by at well over a hundred miles per hour, and I had no idea if it would turn out or not. Turns out, it did.
I saw it out of the corner of my eye and had only a small portion of window available, literally. The window in the back seat of the seaplane was dirty and the wing was visible in this shot. I pressed up against the window with the camera to minimize the reflection and hoped for the best.
I cropped out the wing of the airplane and straightened the horizon in my post process. I removed the motion blur and did some necessary enhancements. The image itself is not too large due to the cropping, but it turned out nicely for a smaller image size.
This was only one of the sights on my sunset flight over Miami in a seaplane. Landing on the water after the aerial tour was exhilarating and a perfect end to a perfect day.
